This grant provides money to help improve lawyers and services for young people in the juvenile justice system who cannot afford legal defense. The goal is to make sure these youth get fair treatment, fix weak spots in the system, and give them the support they need. By improving legal help and addressing problems that cause unfair outcomes, the program hopes to reduce reoffending and keep more young people from going back into the system.

this funding opportunity seeks to support local implementation of juvenile indigent defense practices and services that strengthen and improve the representation of youth involved in the juvenile justice system. this program will address barriers and gaps within the juvenile justice system for indigent youth to reduce reoffending and decrease recidivism.
